I must have missed this story first time round, so excuse me for being slow. Thorpe Park has a rollercoaster based on the Saw movies. Yes, family-focused theme park devotes a big rollercoaster to the glory of a franchise where a moralising serial killer takes out a bunch of petty grievances on screaming people. I didn’t get very far through the films, but can vaguely remember a man being forced to gouge out his own eye to retrieve the key that will unlock his trap, or the recovering drug addict tossed into a pit of hypodermic needles. Or something like that. I wasn’t sure how it would readily transfer to the medium of fairgrounds. Do you get your money back if nobody loses an eye? What next? Last Funhouse on the Left? A Hostel-themed hostel? What other unsuitable movies would you like to see transformed into a theme park attraction?
Having said this, I love rollercoasters and would ride this thing in a heartbeat. I would just allow myself an indignant ‘tut’ about it.
